European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany.
It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in
physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse
scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide
range of experimental techniques.
For our X-ray Operations group we are looking for a
The Position
Become part of the European XFEL Hall Crew and support the user operation of the European X-ray laser
- Take responsibility for the operation of the experiment hall equipped with sophisticated instrumentation
- Support transport tasks as well as the operation of the XHCrew storage facility
- Ensure the successful use of the X-ray laser by running diagnostics and monitoring associated operating parameters
- Work with different groups to ensure the safe operation of the experiment hall
- Be part of a highly motivated team that ensures the 24/7 operation of the European X-ray laser facility
- Take part in shift work for night and/or weekend operation
- Work with different groups to ensure the safe operation of the experiment hall
- Assist with the mechanical assembly, adjustment, and safe dismantling of experimental setups
- Fabricate individual components and make mechanical adjustments and modifications as needed
Requirements
- State-certified technician or similar qualification with proven experience in the operation of complex machines / components
- Interest, willingness and ability to learn new areas of expertise
- Organizational and communication skills
- Experience with CAD systems is an advantage
- Willingness to acquire a crane operator and forklift license at EuXFEL, if not already available

Compensation & long-term security
