European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany.
It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in
physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse
scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide
range of experimental techniques.
For our Detector group we are looking for an
The Position
- Design of analog and mixed-signal ASIC blocks in CMOS technology for innovative X-ray pixel detectors in collaboration with international partners
- Contribute to establishing test strategies and setups for the designed ASIC structures
- Carry out the experimental characterization with the electronics laboratory equipment
- Contribute to the global simulation, layout and finalisation of the complex ASIC, including components designed by collaborators
Requirements
- Master or PhD Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or equivalent professional experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in ASIC design, or a PhD with a strong focus on ASIC / integrated circuit design
- Proven experience in analog and mixed-signal IC design, including schematic design, layout, and simulation
- Knowledge of ASIC design and simulation tools such as "Cadence Virtuoso", Spectre and UltraSim is an asset
- Solid understanding of low-noise analog design, signal processing, and filtering techniques
- Hands-on experience with ASIC design and simulation tools (e.g. Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, UltraSim)
- Ability to work independently, taking responsibility for the design and validation of complex analog/mixed-signal blocks
- Experience with radiation detectors or readout electronics for scientific instrumentation
- Familiarity with high-rate and/or high-dynamic-range front-end architectures
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and international team - English is the company language
