European XFEL is an international non-profit company located in the Hamburg area in Germany.
It operates a 3.4 km-long X-ray laser, which produces X-rays of unique quality for studies in
physics, chemistry, the life sciences, materials research and other disciplines. The diverse
scientific facilities at European XFEL enable scientists from across the globe to carry out a wide
range of experimental techniques.
For our X-Ray Optics group we are looking for a
The Position
Join the European XFEL in a key role to push the boundaries of scientific instrumentation. We are seeking a motivated researcher to work on a significant initiative within our Strategy Program. You will play a central part in conceiving and testing innovative optics and methods to share our powerful X-ray beam among different stations, allowing more experiments to be performed simultaneoulsy and directly expanding the capabilities of a world-leading research facility.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead or participate in the conceptual design and integration of photon beam multiplexing setups
- Plan, execute, and analyse multiplexing experiments at EuXFEL and other X-ray facilities
- Collaborate closely with the teams at EuXFEL and the accelerator team at DESY
- Develop expertise in X-ray beam transport and accelerator operation modes
- Present results at conferences and contribute to peer-reviewed publications
Requirements
- PhD degree in experimental physics or related field
- Expertise in X-ray optics, wavefront propagation, and X-ray physics
- Hands-on experience with experimental setups, vacuum technology, and data analysis
- Experiences at large-scale facilities (e.g. synchrotrons or FELs) is an asset
- Strong motivation to work on cutting-edge projects, excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, international team
- Willingness to travel and participate in beamtimes at EuXFEL and other facilities
